This tool utilizes defect classification to give operators critical information about the specific defects that they discover on the line. Legacy vision systems often only provide pass and fail judgements, while AI enables further segmentation of defective products. This innovation provides two key benefits: simplification of the root cause analysis process, and significant reduction in downtime caused by defects.
Descriptive Labels include several informative fields available to the operator when defects are discovered on the line:
• Defect Severity
• Description
• Root Cause
• Corrective Action
A quality manager can even upload example images of the defect for operators to use as visual confirmation that the observed defect was categorized correctly. The details in the descriptive label are entered in the Create page of the Elementary software platform. Within the Image Labeling Gallery, users can either edit existing labels or create new ones when new defects are discovered. When additional root causes or corrective actions are discovered and agreed upon, these fields can be readily edited so that operators have the latest information available on the line.
Descriptive Labels enable collaboration between quality managers and line operators that previously was not possible using legacy vision systems.
